If you are setting up Oracle Mobile Collaboration for the first time, the Oracle Mobile Collaboration Settings screen appears:

Perform the following steps to access the Oracle Mobile Collaboration Settings screen:
If you have a mobile telephone, then enter the number in the Mobile telephone Number field. Enter your mobile telephone number including the country code. The United States country code (1) is the default. Overwrite it if it is not your country code. The number you enter here (excluding the plus symbol [+]) becomes your Oracle Mobile Collaboration access account identifier. This will be known as your Account ID. If you do not have a mobile telephone or if you do not want to use the mobile telephone number as your account identifier, then replace the 1 in the Country Code field and enter any number for the Area code and number in the Mobile Phone Number field. This number must be unique among users, if not, you will receive an error message.
If you entered your mobile telephone number in the Mobile Phone Number field, then enter the wireless carrier and the mobile telephone model in the Carrier and Model fields, respectively. This information ensures that Oracle Collaboration Suite can offer features that match the capabilities of your device.
Enter your Single Sign-On password in the Single Sign-On Password field.
Enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to access Oracle Collaboration Suite through Oracle Mobile Collaboration. Your PIN must be a six to ten digit long number that you will use for authentication. Oracle Mobile Collaboration access to Oracle Collaboration Suite uses the Account ID to identify a user and the corresponding PIN to authenticate, instead of the Single Sign-On name and password. This is because numbers are easier to enter on mobile devices.
The Notify Me When I Receive field enables you to specify when you want to be notified (such as when you receive voice mail, fax messages, urgent messages, or messages from specified senders). Select the required options and enter the names or e-mail addresses of senders about whose communications you want to be notified. Partial names or e-mail addresses can be entered, but must not contain a comma; each name specified here is matched against the Sender field of incoming messages. If the specified name is a subset of the sender identifier, then a notification is sent to you. See Notifications for more information.
The Default Inbox View for Mobile Collaboration screen enables you to view a subset of your Inbox when accessing Oracle Collaboration Suite through wireless, voice, or a native client. This enables you to be selective about which e-mail messages you want to access when you are using a mobile device. Choose one of the conditions in the list to define your view.

Automatic Configuration appears only if your mobile telephone is capable of automatically receiving parameter settings or native client code from the server over the Internet. The number of check boxes shown also depends on the capability of your mobile telephone. If the check boxes are shown but disabled, then your mobile telephone is capable, but the Oracle Collaboration Suite server is not capable of supporting the feature. Contact your Oracle Collaboration Suite administrator to verify if the Oracle Collaboration Suite server will support your device. The current release is capable of displaying up to three check boxes. They are shown in the following table.
Button |
Description |
|---|---|
| Device Mobile Access Bookmark | The Oracle Collaboration Suite server bookmarks the Oracle Collaboration Suite Mobile access URL in the browser of your telephone over the Internet. |
| Mobile Push Mail Client | Oracle Collaboration Suite installs a native client program to enable always-available Mobile Push Mail on your telephone. This feature is disabled if your mobile telephone is capable of Mobile Push Mail functionality, but the Oracle Collaboration Suite server does not have the client program for your device in its repository. Contact your Oracle Collaboration Suite administrator to verify if the Oracle Collaboration Suite server will support your device. |
| Mobile Data Sync Client | Oracle Collaboration Suite installs a native client program to enable synchronization of the calendar on your telephone with Oracle Collaboration Suite Calendar. This feature is disabled if your device is capable of supporting Mobile Data Sync Client, but the Oracle Collaboration Suite server does not have the client program for your device in its repository. Contact your Oracle Collaboration Suite administrator to verify if the Oracle Collaboration Suite server will support your device. |
After selecting the desired check boxes, Oracle Collaboration Suite automatically configures your mobile telephone. Ensure that your mobile telephone has access to the Internet. In some cases, a connection through your desktop (such as through ActiveSync for Windows Mobile-based smart telephones, or HotSync for Palm OS-based smart telephones) offers a higher bandwidth and a more reliable connection to the Internet. Once your telephone has access to the Internet, click Configure. This will start the automatic download process.
The automatic download starts with the server sending a short text message to the telephone. This message contains the URL of the Device Management Server (DMS). Some devices allow you to select the URL, contained in the text message, to visit the site. Others may require you to cut and paste the URL in the micro browser address box. DMS loads the specified client programs to your telephone. When it is done, check your mobile telephone to see if all the programs are loaded correctly. See Installing the Mobile Push Mail Client for more information on verifying successful download.
The Advanced button on this screen enables you to set your contact rules, device, and other preferences. See Advanced Preferences for details.
