The following information explains the steps to follow to best prepare for a successful migration to Oracle Connector for Outlook.
Before transitioning to Oracle Connector for Outlook, it is important that you know what happens to the data affecting your work. Migration does not mean having to start over by rebuilding your data. All the data you own follows you to the new system: e-mail, notes, tasks, meetings, and so forth.
To ensure the smoothest possible migration process, Oracle recommends you reduce the size of your Inbox. An easy way to start saving space is by emptying the Deleted Items folder. You can also stop recording journal entries for selected contacts. And, you can choose to automatically archive or delete items when they reach a certain age. Because files attached to messages can take up considerable space, you can save the file and delete the message to save space.

If you are currently using Outlook and intend to use Oracle Connector for Outlook, it is recommended that you export your Contacts and your Personal Folders as a backup copy before installing Oracle Connector for Outlook. In case your Contacts and Personal Folders are not automatically imported when you install Oracle Connector for Outlook, you will be able to use the backup copy you exported to manually import your Contacts and Personal Folders into their respective Microsoft Outlook folders.
