Getting Started
If you are new to Oracle Application Express - Welcome!  Below are some steps and resources that we think will be very useful as you get acclimated.
Sit back and run our Quick Tour Viewlet.  It provides a basic introduction to Oracle Application Express illustrating creating an application based upon a spreadsheet and takes just 4 minutes to watch. There is also a flash demo you can watch to understand how Oracle Application Express can help you improve your business.
If you don't have access to a local instance, request a Workspace on our hosted instance, apex.oracle.com.
Using Oracle Application Express with 11g? Read this.
Familiarize yourself with Application Express forms, reports and charts by running our Sample Application. It comes loaded in your Workspace.
Now you should be ready to try out our Building a Functional Application OBE and create a simple application yourself. This typically takes 1-2 hours to complete.
Install some real-world applications and sample code from OTN.
If you are confused about the purpose of any attribute, click any Label and attribute-level help will be displayed. For page-level help, just click the Help link within the tool.
You can also read the Documentation and Tutorials. These explain how to install Application Express within your database, includes a 2 Day + Developers Guide and Advanced Tutorials, along with our detailed User's Guide.
To do advanced development using Application Express, a good knowlege of SQL and PL/SQL are important.
There are also third-party books available on Application Express.
