Oracle SQL Developer 1.5: Certified Databases and Platforms

Oracle SQL Developer can connect to any Oracle Database version 9.2.0.1 and later and runs on Windows (XP and Vista), Linux and Mac OS. SQL Developer is certified against these platforms and the following production Oracle and non-Oracle (third-party) databases.

  • Oracle 11g R1
  • Oracle10g
  • Oracle Database Express Edition 10g
  • Oracle9i (9.2.0.1 and later)

Oracle SQL Developer can be used to browse and migrate objects and data from a number of third-party databases, and is certified against the following third-party databases:

Microsoft Access

Access 97

For Microsoft Access no JDBC driver is needed. Users must ensure read access to the system tables in the .mdb file.
  Access 2000  
  Access 2002  
  Access 2003  
Microsoft SQL Server SQL Server 7 For Microsoft SQL Server a JDBC driver is required. Use the jtds-1.2.jar, included in jtds-1.2-dist.zip available from sourceforge.net.
  SQL Server 2000  
  SQL Server 2005  
MySQL MySQL 3.x For MySQL a JDBC is driver required. Use mysql-connector-java-5.0.4-bin.jar, which is included in mysql-connector-java-5.0.4.zip available from mysql.com.
  MySQL 4.x  
  MySQL 5.x  
Sybase Sybase 12 For Sybase a JDBC driver is required. Use the jtds-1.2.jar, included in jtds-1.2-dist.zip available from sourceforge.net.
  Sybase 15  

NOTE: Do not use the latest MySQL driver 5.1. Use the 5.0.4 drivers for MySQL.

Oracle SQL Developer is certified against JDK 1.5 (6.0) and JDK 6.0.

NOTE: Oracle SQL Developer will not run with JDK 1.6 Update 1 or Update 2.
