Supported Non-Oracle Virtualization and
Partitioning Technologies for Oracle Fusion Middleware Including Pre-Acquisition BEA
Product Releases
This page contains
certification information on supported non-Oracle virtualization and
partitioning technologies for Oracle Fusion Middleware and pre-acquisition BEA
product releases.
Note: If an
Operating System (OS) vendor releases a newer OS version, along with a
complimenting virtualization/partitioning technology, the support
of this new combination depends on the following:
- The new OS should be certified by Oracle Fusion
Middleware. For supported configurations information (e.g. details on OS
version, processor, JDK, database, browser), please refer to Oracle
Fusion Middleware Supported Systems Configurations.
- The new OS plus the virtualization/partitioning
solution is guaranteed by the appropriate hardware vendor to be backward
compatible to the version listed in the tables below.
The following sections identify the supported non-Oracle
virtualization/partitioning technologies for Oracle Fusion Middleware and
pre-acquisition BEA product releases.

Note 3:
Support For Sun Solaris 10 In Multi-Zone
Operation
Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle Fusion Middleware components (for example, Oracle Portal and Oracle SOA Suite) that are running on top of WebLogic Server can run in
multiple zones of a Sun Solaris 10 system, with some
limitations:
- The
use of WebLogic Server Whole Server Migration (automated or manual) is
not supported for use with Solaris non-global zones and shared IP
(within the non-global zones). This is due to the potential
conflict between the IP address that a node manager is listening on and
the IP addresses that the WebLogic Server managed servers are configured
with.
- The
product must be installed and configured to accommodate the Solaris Zones
feature, per the following procedure:
- During the installation of
WebLogic Server, specify a directory to which all
zones will have access.
- NOTE: Oracle
strongly recommends this step so you can avoid
installing WebLogic Server in the default root
file system. If WebLogic Server is installed in
the default root, all zones will require write
access to root and such widespread write access
is not recommended.
- Define a separate WebLogic
Server domain for each zone so that the log files
for each zone can go to a different location. If you
choose, you can also configure a cluster to work across
multiple zones as long as you provide read, write,
and execute permissions to the domain directory to
all the Non-Global zones participating in the cluster.
