General Issues and Workarounds

This section describes general issues and their workarounds for the OracleAS Provider for Jive Forums.

The following are known issues with Jive Discussion Forums, when it is registered as an External Application with Oracle AS Portal.

Issue:

  • Single Sign-On with Jive Forums does not work, thus users are not automatically logged into Jive Forums from Portal

Workaround:

  • Ensure that the JiveURL has been specified in the Jive Forums setup. You can verify this URL in the Jive administration console under:
System -> Jive Forums Systems -> Jive Properties -> jiveURL

  • The application server hosting Jive Forums needs to be in the same domain as OracleAS Portal.

Issue:

  • User sees 'User authentication failed' message within an OracleAS Provider for Jive Forums' portlet

Workaround:

  • The user will have to logout and then login to OracleAS Portal again.

  • The Jive Forum Cookies time out should be set to be the same as that for your portal.

Issue:

  • The forum tree in the Forum Viewer portlet personalize page does not display

Workaround:

  • From the Jive admin page check to see if the jiveURL property has been set. You can find this setting at System -> Jive Forums Systems -> Jive Properties -> jiveURL

  • Set the jiveURL value to http://<host>:<port>/<jive-context>/ or https://<host>:<port>/<jive-context>/ replacing <host>, <port> and <jive-context> accordingly, e.g. https://myURL.com/jive

Known Issues

The following are known issues at the time of writing:
  • The NNTP gateways do not work when the forums are running in Single Sign-On mode.
  • Portlet screens are not NLS compliant.
  • IE Specific: An extra whitespace is observed at the top of the portlet, when the number of rows to be viewed is set to a large value such as 30+.
  • If a forum has been configured with write permissions to all, the user is displayed as 'Guest' when he attempts to post a message by accessing the Forums via the Portlets.
