Introduction

The Oracle Application Server (OracleAS) Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP provides an easy way of accessing your SAP desktop shortcuts from within your OracleAS Portal Page.

NOTE:
1. The OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP is a pre-customized version of the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet available on the Portlet Integration Solutions site.
2. The OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP does not integrate a remote desktop like 'PCAnywhere' or 'Remote PC'.
3. The OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP provides integration with the PC on which it is being viewed.

The OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP is known to work against the following versions of OracleAS and Microsoft Windows:

OracleAS Portal version 9.0.2.x, 9.0.4.x, 10.1.2.x
Microsoft Windows Editions
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 2000

Please see the Release Notes for further information on which browsers and JPDK versions the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP has been tested against.

The installation files for the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP are in a zip file with the following file structure:

Deploying the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP

Please follow the instructions in the Installing the Integration Portlets document to deploy the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP.

Publishing the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP

Registering the Portlet Provider

  1. Login to OracleAS Portal using an account that has build privileges. If your home page is not the Build/Administer page, click on the Builder link in the top right corner of the screen. Click on the Administer tab if that is not the active tab.
  2. Under the Portlets tab, click on Register a Provider within the portlet called Remote Providers.
  3. Fill out provider information for the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP:
    • Name: OracleAS_Desktop_Integration_Portlet_for_SAP
    • Display Name: OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP
    • Timeout: 100
    • Timeout Message: OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet Provider for SAP Timed Out
    • Implementation Style: Web
  4. Click on the Next button to enter the Web Provider specific information
  5. Enter the Web Provider location/URL
    • URL: http://your_oc4j_hostname:port/sap/providers/sap
  6. Scroll down to the User/Session Information section and specify the login frequency as Once Per Session.
  7. Click on the Finish button to complete the registration
Note: When registering a new provider with OracleAS Portal, only the user who registered the provider has privileges to see the provider/portlets. If necessary, go to the Folder with the name of the provider within the Portlet Repository content area and update the provider privileges as required.

Adding the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP to a Portal Page

You are now ready to add the OracleAS Desktop Integration Portlet for SAP to a page.
