To install or upgrade TopLink Essentials, you must use Java SE 5 (1.5).

1. Download the TopLink Essentials installer JAR (above).

2. Use the installer JAR to un-pack the TopLink Essentials libraries. For example:

   java -jar glassfish-persistence-installer-v2-bXX.jar

   This will un-pack the license files, README, and the TopLink Essentials libraries in the current working directory:

   3RD-PARTY-LICENSE.txt
CDDLv1.0.txt
README
toplink-essentials-agent.jar
toplink-essentials.jar

Oracle Containers for Java (OC4J), the Java EE container for OracleAS, and JDeveloper ship with TopLink Essentials as the default JPA implementation.

TopLink Essentials, the reference implementation (RI) of JPA, is an open source effort that is licensed under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL) v1.0. It can be freely downloaded and used under the terms of this license agreement.

The complete CDDL license is also included within the download along with all additional 3rd party licensing terms.
