The Oracle JDeveloper Partner Initiative

The Oracle JDeveloper Partner Initiative

What is it about?
Oracle JDeveloper offers an Extension SDK that developers can use to integrate their solutions into the JDeveloper IDE. This provides Partner a perfect opportunity to integrate their solution with the Oracle JDeveloper providing new solutions for the JDeveloper users community.

How is it done?
Oracle JDeveloper is based on a core IDE that has an extension SDK that lets developers control every aspect of the IDE including menu options, wizards, code editors, windows, etc. The same SDK that is used by the JDeveloper team to develop the tool is available to outside developers.

Why integrate with JDeveloper?
Oracle JDeveloper is one of the leading Java IDEs and the tool of choice for developers working with the Oracle platform. Oracle JDeveloper is also the development tools used by Oracle Applications and the upcoming Oracle Fusion. Building a better integration of your product with this environment means that more developers will have access to your product, giving you exposure to a new market.

How much does it cost?
Nothing. JDeveloper is a Free IDE and anyone can use the Extension SDK without any costs.

How can developers find out about my extension?
Extensions to JDeveloper are displayed under the Partners update center directly inside JDeveloper's Check-for-Update menu. Let us know about your extension via email or by posting a note on the discussion forum and we'll contact you and help you publish your extension.

Where can I get more information?
The JDeveloper Extension SDK page has more resources for you.
