Oracle Certificate Authority: Issuing User Certificates

In this section you will learn how to manually get a certificate which can be used to log into your web applications. This is typically used by users who do not have a user account in the Oracle Application server or a current user certificate issued by Oracle Certificate Authority.

There are three ways for a user to obtain a certificate.

Using your Oracle AS Single Sign-on Credentials

Using an existing certificate

Using Manual Approval/Authentication

In this lesson we will learn how to issue a certificate "Using Manual Approval/Authentication"

This method of obtaining a user certificate does not require you to have a valid user certificate issued by the Oracle Certificate Authority or a valid user account on the Oracle Application Server.

Navigate to the following URL:

https://host.domain.com:4400/oca/user

You should see a page that looks like this.

Select the "User Certificates" tab. The next page should look like this.

Select "Use manaual approval/authentication" and then click the "Submit" button.

On the page that follows, click on the "Request a Certificate" button.

On the page that follows, fill in your "DN" and "Contact" information and click on the "Submit" button.

On the page that follows you should see a message that says your certificate request has been accepted and is waiting for the administrator to approve it.

Since you are not authenticating with your Oracle AS user name and password, or a valid user certificate issued by OCA, you certificate will not be automatically issued and you must wait for the OCA administrator to look at your request and decide if they want to grant you a certificate.

At this point all you can do is check back every once in a while to see if a decision has been made by the OCA administrator.
