Secure Enterprise Search Developer Center

Last updated: February 28, 2007

Welcome to the Oracle Secure Enterprise Search(SES) Developer Center. The center provides the information relevant to build secure data source connectors and great enterprise search applications on Oracle SES.

Oracle Secure Enterprise Search offers 4 types of extensibility interfaces:

  • Secure Federated Search: Oracle SES Federated Search allows a single query to be sent to multiple search engines. Oracle SES will aggregate the search results returned from the federated search engines to show one unified query result to the user. By building the secure federation endpoints, you can plug-in different search applications to Oracle SES.  User credentials are passed along with the query so that each federation endpoint can authenticate the user against its own.
  • Secure Crawler: Oracle SES Secure Crawler plug-in API enables users to create their own secure crawlers and index proprietary information sources. The plug-in collects document URLs and associated metadata from the information source and returns the information to the Oracle SES crawler.
  • Real-time Suggested Content: Oracle SES Real-time Suggested Content feature enables real-time information to be returned from information sources as part of the user query. Suggested Content providers can be written using the REST API to fetch information from an information source.  Google OneBox providers can serve as Oracle SES Suggested Content providers.
  • Web Services Query API: Oracle SES  search engine can be queried using its Web Services based Query API. This allows custom search applications to be built on top of the SES search engine.

Using the above interfaces, you can build Oracle SES connectors to access any enterprise information source and extend the capabilities of the Oracle SES search engine .
