Oracle
Reports is fully integrated with the
Oracle Application Server and the Oracle
database. This integration enables you to take full advantage
of all the features these products have to offer, such as using OracleAS
Discoverer.
You can now use OracleAS
Discoverer Plus and Viewer to export Discoverer worksheets to XML,
which
can then be opened in Oracle Reports Developer. This export
contains the query, as well as all the formatting necessary to create
a paper report (including conditional formatting). You can now take
this exported report into Oracle Reports and take advantage
of all the product's features to perform such tasks as producing
a PDF,
adding more queries, and creating a more complex layout for paper or
the Web.
You can also take advantage
of the other products included in Oracle Application Server,
such as OracleAS
Portal, Oracle
Enterprise Manager, Oracle
Internet Directory, and Oracle
Forms. For example, you can set up OracleAS Reports Services
with OracleAS Portal and Oracle Internet Directory to enable
single sign-on (SSO). With
SSO, a user only has to log in once and can use all products using
the
same login ID and password.
