Oracle Secure Backup, centralized tape backup management solution, provides performant, data protection for heterogeneous file systems and the Oracle database. Highly scalable, Oracle Secure Backup’s client-server architecture offers single-point management of distributed UNIX, Linux, Windows, Network Attached Storage (NAS) and tape devices.  Safeguarding data and access to the backup domain, Oracle Secure Backup has embedded proven Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology achieving two-way server authenication and in-transit encryption critical in networked environments..

Oracle Secure Backup 10.2 extends policy based tape backup management and encryption providing a complete tape backup solution for enterprise environments.

Key enhancements in Oracle Secure Backup 10.2:

• Optimized tape backup for the Oracle database backing up only currently used blocks and eliminating backup of committed undo increasing backup performance by 10 – 25%
• Secure data protection delivering up to 256 AES backup encryption for file systems and Oracle9i forward protecting backup data when tapes are onsite, offsite or lost.
• Automated management of tape rotation between multiple locations generating pick and recall tape lists based on user-defined rotation policies often referred to as "vaulting"
• Policy based tape duplication automating duplication requirements for vaulting providing capability for identical or different retention periods than original, all tapes and associated locations are tracked allowing for seamless restore from original or duplicate tape in closest physical proximity.
• Ondemand tape duplication for one-off duplication needs.
• Automated migration from a virtual tape (VTL) to physical tape freeing up space on the VTL while maintaining the physical tape cartridge for user-defined retention period
• Support for Sun/StorageTek ACSLS and associated tape libraries.

Oracle Secure Backup Express available free with the Oracle Database and Oracle Application products for protecting one server to one attached tape drive. When backup requirements exceed one tape drive, then Oracle Secure Backup Express may be seamlessly upgraded to the fully licensed Oracle Secure Backup edition.
