| |
| Can I use Warehouse Builder 9.2 with Oracle
10g database? |
| You can only use Oracle 10g database with Warehouse
Builder 9.2 to store the design or run-time repositories. Because OWB
9.2 does not have a 10g location, you can not use an Oracle
10g source or target. If you are sourcing from or targeting
Oracle 10g database you must use OWB 10g. |

| Why should I upgrade to Warehouse Builder
10g? |
|
Warehouse Builder users will want to upgrade to Warehouse Builder
10g for the following reasons:
- To be able to use the Oracle 10g database as a source or
target
- Warehouse Builder 10g is available on more platforms than
any previous version. For details see this question
"What platforms will Warehouse Builder 10g be available on?"
- For a brand new install, it is easier to get the most stable environment
by installing Warehouse Builder 10g rather than installing
OWB 9.2.0.2.8 followed by 9.2.0.4.0 patchset
- Warehouse Builder patch 9.2.0.4 will be the last patch for Warehouse
Builder 9.2, so users are encouraged to migrate to Warehouse Builder
10g to receive the future product updates

| |
| I already have an existing data warehouse
built with Warehouse Builder. How do I migrate to Warehouse Builder 10g? |
| For Warehouse Builder 3i, 9.0.2 and 9.0.3 users, you will
need to upgrade your design and runtime environments. For Warehouse
Builder 9.0.4 and 9.2 users, you can perform an in-place migration using
a script to upgrade both your design time and runtime repositories. See
the Warehouse Builder Install and Configuration Guide http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/warehouse.html,
Chapter 3: "Upgrading to 10g Release 1 (10.1) and Migrating Data",
for details. Note that additional steps are required if you perform
a database upgrade as well as a Warehouse Builder upgrade. |
