Experiences with Oracle WebCenter 11g: Implementing SOA with a User Interface |
| Speakers |
Peter Ebell, AMIS; Lucas Jellema, AMIS |
| Abstract |
SOA goals—decoupled, cross-technology integration, reuse—apply to programmatic Web services and services with a UI. With Oracle WebCenter as the "service bus for UI services" consuming local Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF) task flows and remote portlets, you can create integrated front ends from many standalone components. This session tells how to use Oracle WebCenter 11g to combine portlets for Web applications; a content management system; and Oracle WebCenter services for tagging, workflow, communication, and content sharing. Oracle ADF 11g is used to create the main mashup page and reusable bound task flows. It demos creating these task flows and integrating them with Oracle WebCenter services/content in a portal. |

Hands-on Lab: Building Building Collaborative Portals for Oracle Applications by Using Oracle WebCenter |
| Speakers |
Nabin Bilas, Oracle ; Narayan Chintalapati, Oracle; Anirudh Pandit, Oracle; Nishit Rao, Oracle |
| Abstract |
In this hands-on lab, create a collaborative portal that embeds Oracle Applications data in Oracle WebCenter. Expose Oracle Applications data, using Web Service Remote Portlet (WSRP) mechanisms in Oracle WebCenter. Oracle Applications support WSRP capability, letting users embed apps functionality (such as pages from Oracle's PeopleSoft applications) in a portal and build role- and task-specific portals to enhance productivity and ease collaboration. The lab involves exposing PeopleSoft pages, using WSRP wizards in PeopleSoft PeopleTools and registering PeopleSoft as the portlet producer in Oracle WebCenter. Similar concepts apply to Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle's JD Edwards apps. No Oracle WebCenter or Java knowledge is required. |
