Files (zip 241KB) |
These guides and supporting
files provide simple PL/SQL examples that upload, store, manipulate, and
export image data inside a database using Multimedia.
Some common pitfalls are also highlighted. The examples assume only Oracle
Database release 10g or 9i with Oracle Multimedia
installed (the default configuration provided by Oracle Universal Installer). |

This demo contains
two Application Express applications that demonstrate DICOM support in
the Oracle 11g Database. The demo can be downloaded by users and
installed on their own machine from:

DICOM
Image Archive Demonstration |
In the DICOM Image Archive Demo
application, users can import and export DICOM images; retrieve the full
(original) size DICOM image in JPEG format, the JPEG thumbnail image, and
the metadata for each DICOM image; edit the attributes of each DICOM image;
process the content of the DICOM images; validate each DICOM image based
on the constraint rules, and make the selected DICOM images anonymous. The
application also provides keyword searching, field searching, and semantic
searching capabilities to search within the DICOM image archive. |
|
|
DICOM
Image Archive Admin Demonstration |
In the DICOM Image Archive Admin
application, administrators can insert, delete, and export DICOM repository
documents. |

Multimedia Mid-Tier Java API Examples |
These examples are provided
to help developers learn how to use Oracle Multimedia Mid-Tier Java API.
These examples demonstrate how to extract Digital Imaging and Communications
in Medicine (DICOM) attribute values using DICOM value locators or DICOM
attribute tags. |

Web
Access to Media |
One of the strengths of Oracle
is its simple yet powerful web integration mechanisms that make it easy
for web programmers to upload and download media data to and from user defined
tables. This brief paper provides an overview of and links to more information
on the mechanisms available to both Java and PL/SQL programmers for performing
these operations. Multimedia object types are also supported by Oracle Portal
forms and Oracle Portal reports. |
 |
Use
Multimedia Tag Library for JSP to Load/Retrieve Rich Content |
These code samples use the Multimedia
Tag Library for JSP to implement a simple photo album application that loads
and retrieves rich content from Oracle. |
 |
Use
Multimedia and PL/SQL to manage rich media content |
Create media objects, parse,
index, load, and retrieve rich media data using Multimedia
server side PL/SQL api. |
 |
Bulkload
rich media content |
Bulkload rich content into Oracle
Database with SQL*Loader and PL/SQL. |
 |
Use
Multimedia with OO4O and Microsoft IIS to load and retrieve rich content |
This code sample uses Multimedia
with Oracle Objects for OLE (OO4O) to implement a simple photo album that
loads and retrieves rich content from Oracle. The sample runs on the Microsoft
IIS Web Server as an ASP/VBScript application. |
 |
Use
Multimedia with PL/SQL Gateway and Web Toolkit to load and retrieve rich
content |
This code sample uses Multimedia
with the PL/SQL Gateway and Web Toolkit to implement a simple photo album
that loads and retrieves images from Oracle. Metadata that is embedded within
the image file is automatically extracted and stored. The code sample shows
how the metadata can be searched and how new metadata can be written to
the image. Updated: Oct-13-2005 |

Use
Java Servlets & JSPs to load/retrieve rich content |
These code samples use Multimedia
Java Classes for Servlets and JSPs to implement two simple photo album applications
that load and retrieve rich content from Oracle. Updated:

Play
RealNetworks RealVideo from Oracle |
Configure
RealServer to play RealVideo from Oracle with Multimedia.
|
 |
Synchronize
playback of streaming media |
Synchronize the
streaming presentation of images, text, and audio from Oracle using RealNetworks
and SMIL. |
 |
Extending
Oracle10g Multimedia to Support Additional Media Formats |
Due to rapidly evolving technology,
a MIME type may be encountered that is not recognized by all Multimedia
methods. In this case, the media data can still be stored and retrieved
using Multimedia objects, but automatic property extraction and image
processing will not be available without some additional work.
This document talks about the different levels of support available for
image, audio and video formats that are not natively understood by Multimedia. |
