Oracle Products

To build and run the FBS, you will also need a Database, an IDE, and a J2EE Container or an Application Server. OTN members can download developer-license versions of these Oracle products for free from /software/.

To access the FBS, you will need one or more of the Supported Clients.

Product Description

Database

The FBS sample application was designed and built to run with an Oracle9i database. It will also work with an Oracle8i database. Other databases may work, too, but have not been tested.

IDE

The FBS was built using Oracle9i JDeveloper version 9.0.3. JDeveloper provides a full-featured integrated development environment (IDE) that you can use to view and edit the source code, and to compile and deploy the application.

J2EE Container

JDeveloper includes Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE (OC4J), an embedded J2EE container that you can deploy to and use as an application server to test the FBS.

Application Server

You can also deploy the FBS to Oracle9i Application Server or Oracle9i Application Server Java Edition.

Libraries and Tools

The following third-party libraries and tools are required.

Suported Clients

Users can access the FBS using any of the following clients:

  • Computer-based Web browser. The FBS was tested using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape Communicator 6.0, and Mozilla 1.1b.

  • Mobile device. As we have followed MVC (Model View Controller) Design Pattern in this application, mobile-enabling the application translated into writing a different view for the same model. Oracle9iAS Wireless Server supports rendering of content onto any device using any protocol.
