Oracle® Application Server

Certification Information

10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0)

B28112-18

October 1, 2007

This document outlines the certified hardware and software configurations for Oracle Application Server. It contains the following sections:

1 General Oracle Application Server Certification Information

Table 1 contains the overall certification information for Oracle Application Server. Table 2 contains supplemental information pertinent to various items in Table 1 and is referenced in the "Additional Information" column in Table 1.

Note:

Not all Oracle Application Server components will be certified on all platforms.

VMWare or Xen or Virtuazzo or Microsoft VM solutions are not certified or supported.

For component-specific certification information (for example, Oracle JDBC Drivers, DataDirect JDBC, Oracle Application Server Plug-Ins, and Oracle HTTP Server, please see Section 2, "Additional Component Certification Details".

This section contains the following topics:

1.1 Certified Platforms, JDKs, and Databases

Table 1 shows the certified platforms, JDKs, and databases for Oracle Application Server.

2 Additional Component Certification Details

This section contains certification details for certain Oracle Application Server components.

The following topics are covered:

2.1 Oracle Application Server Certification with Oracle JDBC Drivers

Support for Oracle JDBC drivers includes two cases:

General Certification in Oracle Application Server Environments

Certification on Standalone and Specific OC4J Instances in Oracle Application Server Environments (on a per-OC4J-instance basis; OC4J instances running in Oracle Application Server environments are managed by OPMN, while standalone OC4J instances are not).

General Certification in Oracle Application Server Environments

Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) in general is only certified to work with the versions of the Oracle JDBC drivers that are shipped with the product.

Table 5 lists the supported Oracle JDBC drivers and connecting databases in Oracle Application Server environments. Any certified Oracle JDBC release can work with a newer Oracle Database release, but cannot take advantage of its new database features.

Table 5 Certification Details for Oracle JDBC Drivers in Oracle Application Server Environments

Certified Oracle JDBC Releases Compatible Oracle Customer Databases

10.1.0.5.0

9.2.0.6.0 or higher, 10.1.0.4 or higher, 10.2.0.1.0 or higher

Certification on Standalone and Specific OC4J Instances in Oracle Application Server Environments

More recent Oracle JDBC drivers are certified for standalone OC4J or specific OC4J instances in Oracle Application Server environments, ahead of the entire Oracle Application Server platform.

Table 6 lists the supported Oracle JDBC drivers and connecting databases for standalone and specific OC4J instances.

Table 6 Certification Details for Oracle JDBC Drivers for Standalone and Specific OC4J Instances in Oracle Application Server Environments

10.1.0.5.0, 10.2.0.1.0 (THIN only)

9.2.0.6.0 or higher, 10.1.0.4 or higher, 10.2.0.1.0 or higher

Additional information:

  • Certifications for OC4J 10.1.3.0.0 follow the shared-library approach for upgrading Oracle JDBC THIN driver on standalone OC4J or specific OC4J instances running in Oracle Application Server environments, as illustrated in the OC4J How-To available at:

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/how-to-swapjdbclib/doc/readme.html

  • Certifications are done using only the latest OC4J and Oracle JDBC patch releases. Customers are expected to adopt the same patch releases to gain certification.

  • Certifications do not include exposure of any new feature in later Oracle JDBC releases, but only require that newer Oracle JDBC drivers be used in a backward-compatible fashion.

  • For non-default Oracle JDBC drivers, those certified releases in the above matrix do not include DMS metrics. Only Oracle JDBC jar files without the "dms" name suffix were certified (for OC4J 10.1.3.0.0 this refers to ojdbc14.jar).

2.2 Oracle Application Server Certification with DataDirect JDBC

For the most current details about supported DataDirect JDBC drivers and connecting databases, please refer to the following website:

http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/htdocs/datadirect-jdbc-certification.html

4 Documentation Accessibility

Our goal is to make Oracle products, services, and supporting documentation accessible, with good usability, to the disabled community. To that end, our documentation includes features that make information available to users of assistive technology. This documentation is available in HTML format, and contains markup to facilitate access by the disabled community. Accessibility standards will continue to evolve over time, and Oracle is actively engaged with other market-leading technology vendors to address technical obstacles so that our documentation can be accessible to all of our customers. For more information, visit the Oracle Accessibility Program Web site at http://www.oracle.com/accessibility/.

Accessibility of Code Examples in Documentation

Screen readers may not always correctly read the code examples in this document. The conventions for writing code require that closing braces should appear on an otherwise empty line; however, some screen readers may not always read a line of text that consists solely of a bracket or brace.

Accessibility of Links to External Web Sites in Documentation

This documentation may contain links to Web sites of other companies or organizations that Oracle does not own or control. Oracle neither evaluates nor makes any representations regarding the accessibility of these Web sites.

TTY Access to Oracle Support Services
