Bare Metal Provisioning
application automates the deployment of Linux operating
systems and software on top of Linux stack in a rapid
and efficient manner. The application uses PXE booting
process for bare metal provisioning of servers with Linux
operating system. As a part of the provisioning process
it also allows administrators to associate images with
different hardware and storage templates to cover a variety
of hardware population.
The application also allows administrators to provision
Oracle and third party software and applications on top
of linux stack. Once the operating system and management
agent has been provisioned on bare metal servers the application
deploys Oracle or third party softwares. Management agent
makes the server available to be managed by Oracle Enterprise
Manager Grid Control.

Enterprise Manager 10gR3 release, the bare metal provisioning
application provides out-of-box support to provision 32-bit

1) Best practices for Grid Control based Bare Metal
Provisioning available here.
2) Management Agent RPM kit: This is used deploying
Management Agent on the servers being provisioned. One
needs to download this agent rpm and follow the instructions
in section 3.2.3 of the best practices document to use
the agent rpm along with the Bare Metal Provisioning application.
3) Out-of-Box Sample Directives: These out-of-box
scripts can be used for creating directives for various
provisioning use cases. Follow the best practices document
for using these scripts. |

Note that the Agent RPM kit can also
be used outside the scope of the bare metal provisioning application
to install standalone or cluster agents. Please follow the instructions
