OraOLEDB System
Requirements
============================
The following items are
required on a system to use Oracle Provider for OLE DB:
- Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional
- Access to an Oracle Database
Server (release 7.3.4 or later)
- Oracle Client (release 8.1.7)
- Oracle Provider for OLE DB(8.1.7.3.0)
- Redistributable files provided with MDAC 2.1, 2.5, or 2.6
(www.microsoft.com/data/oledb)
- Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server (version
8.1.7.0.0). Required only for consumers using MTS.
Instructions for
Installing Oracle Provider for OLE DB
======================================================
1. Download OraOLEDB_81730.zip onto a temporary
folder.
2. Unzip
OraOLEDB_81730.zip using a decompression program, such as WinZip.
3. Run the Oracle Universal Installer in
\install\win32\setup.exe to complete the
installation of the provider. The is the directory where you extracted all the zipped files to.
4. After the installation, delete OraOLEDB_81730.zip and the temporary
installation folders and files.
5. For Windows 95/98 users, a reboot is required after
the OraOLEDB installation is complete.
Please note: Do not download this file into the "Tmp"
directory.
Viewing the Documentation
===========================
The Oracle
Provider for OLE DB documentation is installed in the ORACLE_HOME\oledb\doc
directory. To view the online PDF or HTML documentation,
open the oledb.pdf file in the
ORACLE_HOME\oledb\doc
directory or the toc.htm file in the
ORACLE_HOME\oledb\doc\html directory.
