Database
Migration Path This is the recommended
database migration path to follow when using the services available
from the Oracle Product Technical Services (PTS) group.
Follow the steps outlined below to perform
your migration according to the recommended migration path. Please
read through all steps as you will find useful links here for each
phase of your migration project:
1
- Install and Set
Up the Hardware for your Oracle Database 11g
Refer to the Oracle Database 11g
documentation
for detailed information about hardware requirements.
2
- Download and
Install an Oracle Database 11g
Perform an Enterprise or Client database
download depending on your requirements. You only need Oracle SQL
Developer or an Oracle client installation for those machines that
only need to access the Oracle Database 11g server instance.
Download the Database software from here.
3
- Download and
Install Oracle SQL Developer
Oracle SQL Developer Migrations
Use Oracle
SQL Developer Migrations to migrate your non-Oracle database
schema, including data, triggers, views, stored procedures, and
other database objects to an Oracle database. The specifics of what
is migrated depends on the database being migrated.
4
- Download Presentations
and Documentation
Download the following presentations and
documents to help you understand Oracle architecture, technical
issues, the scope of the migration, and the recommended migration
methodology:

- Train your Staff
It is recommended that your staff refer
to the following training materials to help them get started in
an Oracle environment:
