Filing Technical Requests

Please complete the debugging information before filing a technical assistance request. This enables us to investigate the problem for you immediately and offer a suggested workaround.

Once you have completed the debugging information, you can file a technical assistance request in one of two ways. The method you use depends on whether or not you have a support contract.

Customers with a Support Contract

If you have a Customer Support Identifier (CSI) number, you can obtain support through your normal channels using MetaLink. MetaLink is Oracle Support Services' premier Web support tool. It is a valuable tool that will help you get the most out of your Oracle products by enabling you to log Technical Assistance Requests (TARs) online. This allows you to:

• Use TAR templates, describe a problem in your own words, cut and paste error messages
• Eliminate holding time on telephone lines
• Take advantage of automatic skill routing
• Use TAR profiles such as templates of your product, platform, version numbers, CSI and contact information, eliminating the need to repeat standard profile information
• Monitor or update your open TARs online

How can you get access to our MetaLink Web site? Customers with an active support contract for their Oracle licenses can register for access today or login immediately if already registered. Please remember to follow the debugging procedure before logging a TAR.

Customers without a Support Contract

Customers without a standard support contract can post a query on the Forum. Always remember to follow the debugging procedure first.
