The Migration Workbench is a wizard-driven tool. It
is composed of core features and plug-in features. The core
features are relevant to all migrations, while plug-in features are specific
to the source database you are migrating.
The core features are:
- Migrate the following source databases to the Oracle9i or
Oracle10g platform:
- Microsoft SQL Server 6.5, 7.0, and 2000
- Microsoft Access 2.0, 95, 97, 2000, 2002 (XP), and 2003
- Sybase Adaptive Server 11 and 12
- Informix Dynamic Server 7.3 , 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, and 9.4
- MySQL 3.22, 3.23, and 4.X
- DB2/400 V4R3 and V4R5
- DB2 UDB 6.X, 7.1, and 7.2
- Display a representation of the source database and its Oracle equivalent.
- Generate and view a report of the migration.
- Customize users, tables, indexes, and tablespaces.
- Customize the default data type mapping rules.
- Create ANSI-compliant names.
- Resolve conflicts, such as with Oracle reserved words, automatically.
- Remove and rename objects in the Oracle Model.
- Migrate individual table data.
- Capture the data dictionary of a third party database without having
the Migration Workbench physically connected to that database.
