Oracle Modernization Alliance—Specialty Modernization Partners

Most legacy environments are made up of numerous legacy technologies. As a result, there are a number of approaches to carrying out modernization depending on your specific business requirements.

Modernization Partners provide solutions that implement specific modernization activities. How they do this depends on the type of modernization involved. You can work directly with these partners although in some cases these partners work in combination with an OMA System Integrator partner who sub-contracts to them for specific modernization work.

The OMA categorizes modernization partners based on these types of modernization which include:

Application Portfolio Assessment—Understanding your current environment in order to determine what modernization approach to take and which applications are the best candidates for modernization.

SOA Enablement—Wrapping existing legacy as SOA services in order to make use of current legacy components in the SOA world.

Re-Hosting—Moving applications "as-is" to a new platform such as Linux/Unix.

Automated Migration—Transforming applications automatically to new databases, languages and environments without major architectural change.

COTS Replacement—Replacing existing legacy applications with commercial-off-the-shelf packages.

Re-Architecting—Separating legacy business logic from legacy technical infrastructure and re-factoring the result into a completely modern SOA environment.
