Telecom Italia Mobile(TIM) adopted Oracle OCCI Technology for its Prepaid Billing system moving to a new architecture
based on a distributed, multi server platform in a RAC (Real Application Cluster) environment.
The new Billing system provides a robust, transaction oriented Customer Administration system
coupled with a high performance Real Time Rating engine, supporting a broad range of services
for Prepaid Mobile subscribers, such as Real Time Billing for voice and contents, Subscription
profile management, Prepaid Account reload through vouchers, credit cards and bank account,
Prepaid Account inquiry and Self Care services via VRUs and SMS.
This new billing system, provided by Orga Systems, is currently managing the highest amount of
Oracle Database transactions in the Telecom industry.
Fully designed with Object Oriented techniques, the system takes advantage of the ORACLE Object
Relational technology and the OCCI programming interface. In addition Orga Systems InCore(Trademark)
database guarantees an efficient, one-to-one mapping between complex Business Components
used by the application layer, as the Subscriber Profile and the Product and Services Catalogue,
with their persistent image on the ORACLE Database.
The system also provides a detailed Transaction history stored as XML Objects on the Database,
thus enhancing the interoperability of data flow provided to external systems through the
Reporting modules.
