Oracle Fail Safe release 3.3.2 supports automatic clusterwide configuration of highly available databases and applications on Windows NT and Windows 2000/2003 clusters with one, two, or more nodes. The information in the tables below supercedes that provided in the Release Notes included with the software.

Oracle Fail Safe 3.3.2 Compatibility When Installed on Windows NT Clusters

Oracle Fail Safe release 3.3.2 is compatible with the software shown in the following table when Oracle Services for MSCS is installed on Microsoft Windows NT Enterprise Edition version 4.0 (Service Pack 5, or 6a), and Oracle Fail Safe Manager is installed on one of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5 or 6a)

  • Microsoft Windows 98

  • Microsoft Windows 2000

  • Microsoft Windows 2003

  • Microsoft Windows XP

1 Oracle Service for MTS is installed with the Oracle database server. Beginning with Oracle9i, Oracle Service for MTS is no longer needed for an Oracle database server to participate in a Microsoft Transaction Server transaction. All the code and logic to enable Oracle database servers to participate in Microsoft Transaction Server transactions are embedded in the MTS application process, so there is no need to make the Oracle Service for MTS highly available for Oracle database servers release 9.0.1 or later.

Oracle Fail Safe 3.3.2 Compatibility When Installed on Windows 2000/2003 Clusters

Oracle Fail Safe release 3.3.2 is compatible with the software shown in the following table when Oracle Services for MSCS is installed on Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Advanced Server or Datacenter Server, and Oracle Fail Safe Manager is installed on one of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5 or 6a)

  • Microsoft Windows 98

  • Microsoft Windows 2000

  • Microsoft Windows 2003

  • Microsoft Windows XP
