Writing Optimal SQL/Database Troubleshooting & Tuning
with Jonathan Lewis

In this seminar, two main points are discussed: methods of improving the performance of a production system by attacking inefficient SQL, and ways of designing a system so that you can get data into and out of it efficiently.

Seminar topics:
  • Learn how to improve the performance of a production system by attacking inefficient SQL
  • Find out how to design a system so that you can get data into and out of it efficiently

SQL Masterclass with Rob van Wijk

During this seminar you first will be introduced to the benefits and ways of letting the SQL engine do more work for you. Next, Rob will present you two of the most powerful new constructs: analytic functions and the SQL model clause. These constructs will be thoroughly explained, using as many examples as possible.

Then, you will learn about grouping, recursive subquery factoring and frequently occurring problems, which, once again, will be explained using many real-world examples.

At the end of the seminar you will hear about the most frequent SQL challenges, e.g. row generation, splitting comma separated strings, pivoting and string aggregation, and you will learn how these can best be implemented for each Oracle version.

Why should you attend this seminar?
  • Learn about the latest features of the SQL language
  • Develop more effective and efficient programs by being able to recognize when and where pure SQL solutions are preferred
  • Learn why and how to do more with SQL

PLSQL Secure Coding with Pete Finnigan

PLSQL Secure Coding with Pete Finnigan is a one day seminar, that teaches you about the common security issues often located in PL/SQL code and created by developers without an experience of database security.

It first places PL/SQL into the context of the problem of securing data and then looks at all of the common types of issues that make PL/SQL code vulnerable.

Why should you attend this seminar?
  • Each type of PL/SQL coding issue will be demonstrated so that the delegates can appreciate what vulnerable code looks like
  • Sample exploitations are demonstrated to show how the code is actually exploited by an attacker
  • For each example the code is re‚Äźwritten to show how it can be made secure
  • Learn also about other issues such as encryption, leakage of critical data, dangerous functions and use of incorrect privileges
