Dear Customer,
Id like to share some exciting news about a recent Oracle acquisition announcement, which is expected to transform the way the way communications service providers launch and charge for their services.
On May 26, 2010, Oracle announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase certain pre-paid assets of eServGlobal. eServGlobals Universal Service Platform (USP) applications provide proven and scalable pre-paid charging, voucher management and recharge applications for the communications industry. Oracle will also acquire eServGlobals USP network services platform and messaging gateway. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and approvals, and is expected to close in the second half of 2010. Until the transaction closes, each company will continue to operate independently.
In recent years the mobile communications industry has seen dramatic growth in the number of pre-paid subscribers. In order to enable this dramatic growth and provide the innovative service demanded by their customers, communications service providers are aggressively moving toward flexible and open IT-based pre-paid solutions. By adopting IT-based solutions, service providers can more quickly bring innovative offers and bundles to market and reduce their operating costs.
The combination of Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management and eServGlobals USP pre-paid solution will deliver the first convergent pre-paid and post-paid charging and billing application offered by a leading business software and hardware systems vendor. After the transaction closes, Oracle is expected to provide customers with carrier-grade pre-paid software that will offer high levels of availability and scalability, on an open convergent platform. Oracle plans to enable customers to deliver traditional pre-paid voice services and introduce hybrid pre-paid and post-paid plans with targeted pricing, promotions and service bundles that include both voice and data services. For the first time, customers will have access to proven enterprise software that can support any service with any payment method on any network, all from a single business software vendor.
In addition to acquiring the USP technology, we expect that eServGlobals USP business related employees joining Oracle will become a part of the Communications Global Business Unit. These employees bring significant domain expertise in delivering IT-based prepaid solutions and will ensure service continuity for existing USP customers.
We are dedicated to developing and offering leading communications industry software and hardware solutions that are complete, integrated and standards-based. We look forward to providing you the best and most complete end-to-end communications industry solutions available.
