On May 20, 2010, Oracle announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Secerno, adding a heterogeneous database firewall to Oracle’s industry-leading database security solutions. This combination is expected to further enable customers to reduce the cost and complexity of securing their information throughout the enterprise with a protective perimeter around Oracle and non-Oracle databases.
Demand for data protection is on the rise, as attacks on enterprises continue to grow in sophistication. Countering today’s threats against internal breaches and external attacks requires a comprehensive security solution — including database firewall functionality to prevent threats from reaching databases.
The Secerno DataWall product provides a first line of defense to protect data privacy and integrity by creating a defensive perimeter around Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase ASE databases. Secerno’s product monitors database traffic in real-time, over the network, logs sensitive operations, detects anomalies, and accurately blocks unauthorized SQL activity before it reaches the databases.
Secerno’s products are expected to expand Oracle’s portfolio of security solutions to ensure data privacy, protect against insider threats, and enable regulatory compliance. Secerno adds a database firewall to Oracle's solutions for privileged user control, transparent data encryption, data classification, auditing, monitoring, and data masking, allowing customers to deploy reliable data security solutions that do not require any changes to existing applications, saving time and money.
Together, Oracle and Secerno’s technologies are expected to further extend Oracle’s comprehensive database security solutions to safeguard critical business information across the enterprise.
After the close of the transaction, we expect that Oracle partners will benefit from being able to offer a comprehensive database security solution that will meet customers’ increasing data protection needs.
All partners have the opportunity to take advantage of extensive worldwide resources, enablement, and growth opportunity through the Oracle PartnerNetwork program. For more information on the Oracle PartnerNetwork, please visit oracle.com/partners.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close by the end of June 2010. Until the deal closes, each company will continue to operate independently.
