On May 23, 2012, Oracle announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Vitrue, a leading cloud-based social marketing and engagement platform that enables marketers to centrally create, publish, moderate, manage, measure and report on their social marketing campaigns. The transaction is expected to close in the summer of 2012 and until the transaction closes, Oracle and Vitrue will continue to operate independently, and it is business as usual.
The proliferation of social media has changed the way that organizations and consumers interact. Consumers want to have anytime access to information, reviews and recommendations online and through their mobile devices from a growing number of social networks. Marketers understand that social media is a part of building their brand, however, they now want to develop social strategies that can help them build more meaningful customer engagements across multiple social media sites, centrally manage campaigns to help drive revenue and demonstrate a return on investment.
