ABC Aerolíneas S.A. de C.V. (Interjet) is a Mexican airline with the goal of providing highly efficient service at the lowest possible cost. It started its Mexican operations in 2005 and has added international routes to Central America, the Caribbean, and North America, serving 25 domestic destinations and eight international destinations with 37 planes, in a very competitive market.

Since it was founded, Interjet has managed projects, ranging from opening up new routes; to adding new planes; to starting new business units at airports, such as service centers that provide maintenance services to other airlines.

Why Oracle

Interjet was looking for a tool that would enable it to improve its project management, from project launches to tasks each department needed to perform, including the goals and schedules for all stages. “After evaluating several tools, we chose Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management and Oracle Database, Enterprise Edition as an information repository solution, because this would enable us to optimize our project methodology and gain a unified view of the status of each project, while still providing the detail needed to make the best decisions,” said Carlos Nuñez Brambila, director, project office, ABC Aerolíneas S.A. de C.V.

Implementation Process

Interjet began implementing Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management and Oracle Database with Oracle Partner Systec S.A. de C.V. in February 2011. “At the same time we implemented the solution, we trained 10 users, and we finished the deployment in two months,” Nuñez said.

By the end of March, 2011, Interjet was managing projects with Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management as the only solution to manage control projects. The company finished the implementation, on time and on budget.


Interjet deployed P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management and Oracle Database with help from Oracle partner Systec. “Based on what we wanted to develop, Systec specialists analyzed our training, infrastructure, and project modeling needs to better exploit the tool,” Nuñez said.

“With the Oracle solution and training from Systec, we can now fulfill all our planning and project tracking needs and migrate to the web application to get statistics and reports,” Nuñez said.
