Founded in 1845, Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) is a regional Swiss bank based in Vaud, a French-speaking canton in Western Switzerland. Today, the organization is the second-largest regional Swiss bank and the country’s fifth-largest universal bank. BCV offers retail and corporate banking products, trading services, and wealth management through 67 staffed and 54 automated banking centers across the region, primarily serving private customers as well as midsize companies. In accordance with the law of the canton, the bank’s mission is to contribute to the development of the canton’s private and public initiatives.
The rapidly growing bank required a new data intelligence strategy to transform decision-making at all levels of the organization. The bank also had to keep pace with increasingly complex regulatory requirements and Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority demands for greater transparency.
Banque Cantonale Vaudoise first deployed an Oracle enterprise data warehouse, including a data audit framework, to create a single version of the truth with comprehensive data traceability, auditability, and full security. After a formal evaluation with four business intelligence (BI) vendors, BCV selected and deployed Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite across its organization to replace SAP Business Objects.
The bank can now deliver value-added and reliable information to decision-makers, on time, with the highest level of security and complete traceability. The solution also provides users with a self-service BI reporting environment and simplified access to high-quality analytical information through personalized BI workspaces. The stability and reliability of Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite reduced total cost of ownership by minimizing support and administration requirements.
