BICS is a leading provider of international voice, messaging, roaming, and mobile financial services to communications service providers around the world. The company operates its own signaling, SMS, MMS, and GRX platforms, which connect up to 700 networks across the globe, including over 400 mobile networks.
BICS turned to Acme Packet to support and scale its IP eXchange (IPX) and LTE Roaming Exchange services. The company uses Acme Packet’s Net-Net Session Director session border controller (SBC) to manage Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) interconnects with its fixed and mobile service provider customers and the Acme Packet Net-Net Diameter Director Diameter signaling controller (DSC) to support its global LTE roaming service.
The Acme Packet solutions provide the IPX proxy and Diameter Edge Agent functions to secure, route, and interoperate the two IP signaling protocols at the edge: SIP and Diameter. The products provide extensive SIP and Diameter mediation and interworking functions that let BICS accelerate service deployment, as well as comprehensive security and traffic management capabilities that protect against network overloads and attacks. The solutions also provide the routing engine for proper selection of termination and roaming partners. In addition, as the traffic manager at the edge, the products also provide intelligence on network performance for planning and reporting purposes.
The Net-Net Session Director and Net-Net Diameter Director allow BICS to offer flexible IP-based voice, video, and data exchange services without compromising service quality or availability.
