Challenges

A word from Cruz Roja Española

  • “When emergency situations arise, we need to ensure our network of volunteers is able to access and retrieve accurate information in a timely manner. With Oracle Business Intelligence 11g, Enterprise Edition, and Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, we are able to obtain more immediate and exact data, ensuring deployment of aid to those who need it in emergency situations.” – Rocío Calvo, Manager of Information Systems, Cruz Roja Española

  • Provide accurate, timely, and continuous information regarding emergency situations and aid efforts to a network of more than 160,000 volunteers
  • Prompt a shift throughout the organization toward a paperless culture to minimize environmental impact and lower costs
  • Streamline annual report development by extracting, analyzing, and integrating information from individual applications
  • Obtain real-time information to better monitor all ongoing humanitarian response actions and facilitate improved decision-making
  • Generate score cards to provide a visual representation of the current state of affairs in the organization—including donations (financial), emergency situations (operational), and response actions and auditing (success metrics)

Solutions

  • Worked with Oracle Partner Tahbit Software to integrate Oracle Business Intelligence 11g, Enterprise Edition with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, keeping costs low by reusing existing score cards related to Cruz Roja’s financial management and budgeting needs, such as donations management and budgeting for emergency operations
  • Developed score cards for each of the organization’s central activities, such as donations management, volunteer training, and internal management, enabling Cruz Roja to easily demonstrate compliance with the legally mandated requirements for humanitarian organizations, and thus maintain its subsidies from the Spanish Government
  • Utilized the robust graphical reporting capabilities of Oracle Business Intelligence, Enterprise Edition to assist volunteers in analyzing data related to emergency situations, and for registration to assist in various deployments
  • Leveraged the Oracle solutions to move toward a completely digital corporate culture with minimal paper-based processes for increased efficiency
  • Improved response time to emergency situations, bringing aid to those who need it more rapidly
  • Streamlined and improved management processes to increase transparency, credibility, and effectiveness of Cruz Roja as a nonprofit organization
