Grupo Brasil Plural (Brasil Plural Group) owns a broad portfolio of financial products and services, and it has a history of outstanding performance in investment banking, asset management, and resource management. The company, founded in 2003, was known as Flow until its acquisition by Brasil Plural in 2012, which expanded the group’s financial services portfolio. Brasil Plural Group has bold growth objectives for its brokerage within BM&FBovespa—Brazil’s main institution for mediation in capital market transactions.
To achieve these objectives, it needed a new IT structure capable of supporting the brokerage’s increase in data, operations, and business volume while minimizing operational risks.
The company also recently conducted a series of mergers and acquisitions aimed to boost business that involves raising capital and the financial structuring of the company’s purchases and sales. Technology is a strong component of this expansion project, and Brasil Plural chose the Oracle Database Appliance solution to modernize and support all of the brokerage’s transactions. It was also necessary to ensure maximum reliability for the systems’ continuous operation—particularly for SINACOR, BM&FBovespa’s integrated administrative system, which links stock and derivative market participants to the systems of the São Paulo’s stock exchange.
In addition to Oracle Database Appliance, to help meet its goals, Brasil Plural group implemented a package of Oracle solutions, which includes Oracle Database 11g, Enterprise Edition; Oracle Real Application Clusters; Oracle Diagnostics Pack; and Oracle Tuning Pack. Thanks to Oracle, the Brasil Plural Group now has a suitable IT infrastructure to meet the company’s high-growth expectations regarding staff, users, and customers, raising the brokerage’s business capacity by ten times, so it can now support up to 400,000 stock market transaction a day without operational risk. In addition, the migration of the prior system to the Oracle Database Appliance occurred in just two weeks.
"Oracle Database Appliance, along with the other Oracle solutions we implemented, form the heart of the company’s brokerage’s operations. The high availability the system offers us during São Paulo Stock Exchange’s trading sessions is absolutely vital to our business. We have benefited greatly from the system, reducing the amount of customer data and the need for IT support from 20% to 0.5%." – André Cariús, Chief Technology Officer, Grupo Brasil Plural
“We searched the market for a solution capable of meeting our growth needs as well as regulatory requirements for our sector. With Oracle, we found the package with the best cost-benefit ratio. The company also had what we needed in terms of security, high availability, and performance,” said André Cariús, chief technology officer, Grupo Brasil Plural.
Oracle Partner
DBA Corp
Brasil Plural brokerage’s implementation of the new infrastructure, based on Oracle solutions, relied on the contributions of Oracle Specialized partner DBA Corp.
“In addition to being very familiar with the Oracle solutions, the DBA Corp. team also understands the financial markets and SINACOR (BM&FBovespa’s integrated administrative system). DBA Corp. provided us with many details about the products, demonstrated advantages, and supported us during the entire technical decision-making process, supplying the information necessary to calculate what was most suitable to our structure. In addition, DBA Corp. also helped with technical assessments, looking closely at our sales figures and goals,” said André Cariús, chief technology officer, Grupo Brasil Plural.
