Henny Penny Corp., a privately held, family-owned company, continues the tradition of 50 years of innovation, which began with the development of the first commercial, pressure fryer in 1957. The company offers a wide range of high-quality food-service equipment designed for easy operation, flexibility, and low operating costs. Product lines include pressure and open fryers, rotisseries, holding cabinets, display merchandisers, and blast chiller/freezers. These products, along with complete start-up, service, training, and technical support, are available through Henny Penny’s worldwide distributor network.
Henny Penny first deployed Oracle’s JD Edwards World applications 12 years ago. “We put off an upgrade to the new platform for a number of years to assess the product roadmap and continued commitment following Oracle’s acquisition of JD Edwards. We were impressed with Oracle’s continuous investment in the suite, and we knew that JD Edwards applications remained the best platform to expand the use JD Edwards throughout the business,” said Bob Blackburn, IT delivery manager, Henny Penny.
As part of its JD Edwards upgrade, Henny Penny worked with Terillium, an Oracle Platinum Partner. The initiative, designed to consolidate systems and reduce costs and IT maintenance, provided end users with an intuitive interface, and enabled Henny Penny to take advantage of new functionality to streamline business processes.
Henny Penny and Terillium created a strategic plan to move to the latest release of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne while supporting future growth and requirements. Terillium provided a roadmap for the upgrade and beyond. It also helped simplify and convert configuration rules.
Henny Penny was an early adopter of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1, and had worked closely with Oracle Premier Support for Software to address and resolve implementation issues. “We received great support during the upgrade—the team escalated issues and provided timely fixes during the project,” Blackburn said. “The implementation has been very successful. We’ve had no real issues since we went live in October 2012.”
Henny Penny used Oracle User Productivity Kit for process and system documentation that supports user training to get employees up and running quickly on the new applications.
“We partnered with Terillium to upgrade our legacy JD Edwards World and Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment to the current version of Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. The upgrade project was extremely successful,” Blackburn said. “Terillium provided us the functional and technical experience we needed for a smooth transition and to get the most out of our powerful JD Edwards EnterpriseOne platform moving forward.”
