  • Consolidated a vast array of manufacturing systems―including hardware, software, applications, and processes―across the climate solutions, industrial technologies, security technologies, and residential solutions sectors, using Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 running on two quarter racks of Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, two half racks of Oracle Exadata Database Machine, and another quarter rack of Oracle Exadata
  • Optimized back-office, value-stream performance―the activities within a supply chain required to create a product—including order to cash, plan to manufacture, contract to maintain, procure to pay, and record to report―ultimately improving customer interactions

Why Oracle

“Ingersoll Rand has gone through many acquisitions and mergers, and as a result has a variety of hardware, software, applications, and processes. We didn’t need to evaluate all the different platform options available because we knew the performance benefits we obtained from Oracle systems, as well as the problems we faced with other vendors’ solutions. It was a natural progression that we evaluated and ultimately implemented Oracle Exadata and Oracle Exalogic. With 41x faster processing speeds, the benefits spoke for themselves,” said Barry Bonar, enterprise architect, Ingersoll Rand.

Ingersoll Rand worked with Oracle to complete a proof of value on the Oracle Exadata platform. The company shipped its entire data set to Oracle to run the designated performance tests on Oracle Exadata, enabling Ingersoll Rand to safely test its distinct workload to validate performance gains before investing in the engineered systems.

Implementation Process

“Oracle came onsite to install our Oracle engineered systems. Once complete, we had Oracle Exadata and Exalogic, with the InfiniBand connection between them, all our computer nodes, and every other piece up and running as we wanted. Working with one vendor from the hardware rack through to the software stack provided a tremendous benefit,” Bonar said.
