Mailprofiler Development s.r.o. is an associated company of Schober Group, a European leader in cross-media dialog marketing, from market entry strategy, to campaign management. The company develops and maintains XCAMPAIGN, Schober Group’s comprehensive Web-based solution for business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C), cross-media campaign management.
Data volume and performance requirements for Mailprofiler Development’s growing customer base had been steadily increasing, and the company’s IT infrastructure had become very complex. The main driver for adopting Oracle Exadata Database Machine was the company’s critical requirement to proactively prepare for capacity spikes instead of solving problems as they arise.
Mailprofiler Development deployed Oracle Exadata to provide redundancy and improve performance of the company’s resource-intensive online transaction processing (OLTP) application. The application handles reactions from end-users (such as openers, clicks, registrations, cancellations of subscriptions and transactions) of e-mail marketing campaigns, online. Within just three weeks of implementation, the company was able to consolidate its workloads, run complex SQL queries 40% to 60% faster, enable parallel processing of difficult queries without a noticeable effect on the rest of the applications, and shorten backup times by 80%.
“When we started as a software development company in 2000, we considered Interbase, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server, but because of our previous relationship with Oracle, we chose Oracle Database. We also previously worked with Sun servers as they provide easy integration with Oracle software. We have tested other servers and databases, but realized they were not suitable for the data volumes that we need to manage. Oracle Exadata Database Machine is the only system capable of processing and storing our growing data volumes with absolute security and high performance,” said Jaromir Zid, head of software development, Mailprofiler Development s.r.o.
