Migros Bank AG, founded in 1958, is one of the leading retail banks in Switzerland for private clients, with more than 800,000 customers countrywide and a 2010 operating income of nearly US$625 million. The company has 62 branches and offers online and telephone banking services, in addition to traditional branch banking. While the institution is active in all areas of banking, one of its core areas of business is real estate financing.
The bank organizes its data with a highly-integrated data warehouse system, comprised of numerous applications that support industry-specific tasks, such as processing income statements and bank fees.
The company needed to create a scalable, reliable, and agile IT infrastructure to facilitate the integration of new applications and technologies seamlessly, supporting its core financial and banking channels while facilitating business diversification and customer growth. Migros Bank turned to Oracle, building an integrated, unified, and scalable data warehouse infrastructure with two Oracle Exadata half-racks, enabling the company to achieve high availability, accuracy, and insight into customer, account, and business operations data.
Oracle provided Migros Bank AG with a comprehensive IT infrastructure solution. The speed and high availability of Oracle Exadata gave the company an opportunity to improve business operations, increase insight, and run the advanced analytics needed to support growth, profitability, and compliance.
“Oracle Exadata and Oracle Business Intelligence Suite, Enterprise Edition 11g, give us a powerful, unified IT solution that is seamless to our users and customers, whether they are accessing information from an operating system, database, or application,” Said Bernd Granacher, leader, software development, Migros Bank AG.
sumIT AG was responsible for the overall consulting, configuration, setup, implementation, and training on the new infrastructure. Tradeware AG provided expertise as an Oracle Exadata Partner, ensuring the systems were delivered on time.
“The decision to deploy our new IT infrastructure was made easy, thanks to the support provided by Oracle partners sumIT AG and Tradeware AG,” Granacher said.
