Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute Develops Secure Solution to Support Personalized Cancer Care

Moffitt Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) Comprehensive Cancer Center—a designation that recognizes its excellence in research and contributions in clinical trials, prevention, and cancer control. Moffitt and 17 U.S. hospitals have formed a network to create the world’s largest cancer-focused biorepository for clinical and molecular data.

Challenges and Solutions

To support translational research and personalized cancer care, Moffitt selected Oracle Health Sciences solutions—including Oracle Enterprise Healthcare Analytics, Oracle Healthcare Master Person Index, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and Oracle Database 11g—as the foundation for its next-generation Health and Research Informatics platform. The new informatics environment will support Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care program by generating new intelligence from existing systems. Securely synthesizing data from numerous clinical sources, a state-of-the-art biobank, and patient-reported information, the Oracle-based solution will deliver rapid and accurate analysis that reveals new insight into treatment effectiveness at an individual level, helping to advance personalized medicine initiatives.
