MTN Business implemented a highly scalable, efficient and extensible interactive IP communications architecture based on Acme Packet Net-Net Session Router session routing proxies (SRPs) and Net-Net Session Director session border controllers (SBCs). Net-Net Session Router SRPs overcome the challenges inherent in routing large numbers of SIP-based sessions within and between IP networks. Acme Packet delivers high-performance stateful or stateless routing on highly-scalable platforms that reduce the number of session routing proxies required in the MTN Business network.
Net-Net Session Director SBCs mitigate critical security, interoperability and service quality challenges, enabling the secure, efficient and reliable delivery of session-based IP communications.
Acme Packet helped MTN Business contain OPEX and CAPEX by avoiding the expense and complexity of Class 4 softswitches and media gateways, and by replacing legacy SS7 TDM-based interconnects with more cost-effective and flexible IP interconnects. The next generation IP architecture enables the company to deliver profitable interactive communications services today— including hosted VoIP and SIP trunking—while providing a solid foundation for future initiatives such as interactive video and cloud-based services.
