Raisio Group is an international expert in plant-based nutrition. Its three product areas are foods, functional food ingredients, and feeds. The group’s best-known brand, worldwide, is Benecol®, a product line designed to reduce cholesterol.
To enhance management of its growing food portfolio and manufacturing and business resources, Raisio Food Division wanted to increase visibility into project status for food development and for launching schedules for various products. It also wanted to improve the accuracy and correctness of product data, which was stored on many servers, so that the required data could be transferred from a single repository directly to retailers’ databases and to other customers.
To meet these challenges, Raisio Group implemented Oracle’s Agile Product Data Management for Process and Agile New Product Development and Introduction for Process, as part of Oracle’s Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for Process enterprise applications. With these new solutions, Raisio has consolidated data and gained real-time visibility into project status and resources, while also increasing product data accuracy and traceability.
"With Oracle’s Agile New Product Development and Introduction for Process we have gained real-time visibility into the status of our product development projects. Agile Product Data Management for Process has also enabled us to, for example, improve traceability significantly, cutting the time needed to trace a particular food product ingredient from one whole day to just half an hour." – Mira Povelainen, Research & Development Director, Northern European Food Business, Raisio Group
“We chose Agile Product Data Management for Process and Agile New Product Development and Introduction for Process because they were the only existing product data management and product development tools made specifically for the food industry, they required no tailoring, and they had a documented track record of success with other companies,” said Mira Povelainen, research & development director, Northern European Food Business, Raisio Group.

Oracle Partner
Logica
Raisio chose Logica as its implementation partner because the companies have a long history of cooperation. Logica managed the implementation project and was also responsible for developing a data interface between Raisio Group’s internal information systems and those of the national retail chains that sell Raisio’s food products―something that is essential for a food manufacturer.
