Challenges

A word from Red.es

  • “ONTSI data, built on Oracle Business Intelligence and Oracle Database, is instrumental in helping Red.es to execute its mission of advancing Spain as an information society. The solution enables the aggregation and on-demand distribution of critical information on technology in the country and region. ” – Fernando Peña, Head of Applications, Red.es

  • Make accessible to citizens the results of the various surveys, reports, and publications that ONTSI produces to promote the information society concept
  • Offer a tool that enables citizens to produce custom reports based on ONTSI’s data, such as key indicators for the IT and telecommunications industries in Spain, the European Union, and other countries
  • Update the configuration without system failures and interruptions to service, due to ONTSI´s high visibility as a public information organization

Solutions

  • Implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition as the foundation for ONTSI data, after a bidding process in which Oracle´s solution scored highest in technical criteria and cost-competitiveness
  • Worked with Oracle Partner IECISA to analyze all business processes and design extraction information procedures, enabling migration to the new system in just 90 days
  • Created the ONTSI data tool to enable report production out of ONTSI’s key indicators, allowing the public to leverage data from diverse sources, such as citizens, companies, government, the media, and the communications and IT industries
  • Used ONTSI data internally, as well as making it available online for citizens and other organizations
  • Accomplished the public institution’s goals for transparency, responsiveness, and citizen and organization involvement, to further the development of Spain as an information society
