Challenges

A word from Lotería de Córdoba S.E.

  • "Oracle Database, Standard Edition and Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition One have helped us optimally use our data. We have achieved a level of lottery game management unequalled in our country.” – Oscar Gencarelli, Presidential Advisor to the Technology Department, Lotería de Córdoba S.E.

  • Consolidate information from multiple databases to improve management of the province’s various games of chance
  • Support a high volume of data from the province’s games of chance
  • Use data on betting and game play to perform dimensional analyses and analyze bettors’ behaviors

Solutions

  • Implemented Oracle Database, Standard Edition, consolidating information from 16 offices and 11 casinos to improve data integrity and facilitate awarding game prizes in a timely manner
  • Developed a game management system, providing traceability for lottery tickets (previously impossible due to data loss) and gaining the transactional capability required to manage hundreds of thousands of weekly bets
  • Worked with Oracle Partner Trimix to implement Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition One, creating reports and performance charts on bettors, exploiting 2 terabytes of information
  • Achieved visibility for all games in the agency’s business intelligence system, enabling it to make informed policy changes by running scenarios on possible changes to the commissions it receives
  • Increased efficiency in reading lottery tickets, accelerating the process from three days to 12 hours—an important business requirement, since lottery-agent returns occur within 24 hours
  • Reduced the use of paper for weekly reports from the various games of chance, saving 500 sheets per week
