Established in 1984, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) is one of China’s leading education providers. It offers numerous undergraduate and graduate degree programs, such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), as well as 150 training programs for up to 6,000 industry professionals each year. In 2001, Tsinghua SEM partnered with Harvard Business School to launch the Tsinghua-Harvard Executive Training Program. In 2008, it became the first Chinese university to gain management and accounting certification from two of the top global education authorities, the European Foundation for Management Development and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Tsinghua SEM considered several solutions from renowned companies, locally and abroad, but chose an integrated Oracle solution because it offers the best fit for higher education business needs.
“We have seen many successful PeopleSoft implementations in the higher education industry, which convinced us that the Oracle solution could help us to achieve a strategic advantage by gaining visibility into the entire student lifecycle,” said Professor Zhu Yan, associate dean, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management.
Tsinghua SEM deployed its student information management system and university portal in three phases. Throughout the process, it involved users from various teaching and administrative departments to contribute to the workflow processes for the school portal and ensure a seamless transition to the new platform.
Tsinghua SEM engaged Oracle partner, Beijing Transvision Consultancy Co., Ltd. to manage and execute the PeopleSoft application implementation. The company also involved another Oracle partner, Beijing HT Horizon Technology Service Co. Ltd. to construct the school portal.
“Beijing Transvision Consultancy’s experience and thorough understanding of the higher education industry ensured a quick, trouble-free implementation and enabled us to derive immediate benefits from Oracle’s integrated platform,” said Yun Tao, deputy director, MBA center, Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management.
