Q: Why would you say you were nominated for the Oracle Innovation Showcase?
A: I built and lead the development team for Oracle Platform Security Services (OPSS).We built an application-centric Identity Management development platform, which simplifies developing and managing security in enterprise applications.
Q: Why is Oracle Identity Management 11g innovative?
A: OPSS is the industry's first declarative security framework. Oracle understands the challenges companies face building security into applications. With OPSS, our customers can now focus on building their applications and improving their business processes, without having to worry about the security component. This is a huge advantage for our customers because it gives them increased business agility and helps them stay competitive. This reduces not only application development time, but maintenance costs as well. It's a huge step for Oracle and our customers.
Q: How do you define innovation?
A: I think that often innovation is not so much doing something new. It is finding problem patterns in business processes. It is when you take a step back and find an efficient way to solve them.
Q: How do you think Oracle's innovative culture benefits customers?
A: Oracle has been providing innovative software technologies for many years. Using the software from an innovative company will improve a company's profits and puts it ahead of the competition.
Q: Why is innovation important?
A: Innovation is the key to the success of a business in a competitive world. True innovations provide superior benefits and put businesses on the cutting edge. Organizations that fail to deliver it will suffer.
Q: What is the most innovative product you've ever worked on?
A: The platform security services that I'm building now are the most innovative products that I've worked on. I do believe Fusion Middleware 11g will help thousands of customers efficiently build applications.
Q: What innovative technology are you excited about now?
A: User-centric Identity Management—This technology empowers users and enterprises in managing user personal data and solving the privacy issues. I'm happy to see Oracle supporting this innovation—in the recent Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1 release, our Identity Federation product has built-in Infocard support. It is just a first step that will encourage our customers to experiment with this and other emerging technologies, such as OpenID. Also, lot of innovation is happening in Cloud computing.
