News Facts
Leading utilities are leveraging OracleÒ Utilities Meter Data Management to manage large volumes of meter data, allowing them to drive energy efficiency initiatives and provide more accurate billing information to customers.
Customers, including American Electric Power (AEP) and Electrabel (GDF SUEZ Group) have selected Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management to support the loading, validation, editing and estimation (VEE) of meter data. The enterprise-class application suite built on open standards provides the automation and scalability utilities need, while helping reduce ongoing IT operation and support costs.
AEP, delivering electricity to more than five million customers in 11 states, recently selected Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management to address its aggressive approach in managing energy information and enabling smart grid initiatives, which will help the utility to accommodate distributed power generation from renewable sources and use energy-efficiency techniques.
AEP chose Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management to unite its disparate meter data management systems across 11 states – helping it to track usage data and issue resolution across the entire organization. Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management will also enable AEP to generate reports, deliver more accurate bills and help it comply with regulations through built-in auditing and control capabilities.
Electrabel supplies energy to more than 3.5 million customers in The Benelux region (Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg) of Europe. The utility chose Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management to complement its existing billing application. The Oracle application will enable Electrabel to eliminate silos and centralize meter data storage throughout its sales and wholesale operations in a single repository – helping ensure data quality and accuracy.
Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management will be part of a larger project called “Value Chain Management” to deploy energy operations applications to support pricing, quoting, forecasting and position management in addition to metering data management. Oracle Utilities will replace a number of applications to help enhance integration, auditability, performance and flexibility. Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management will serve as the metering data repository for all of Electrabel’s enterprise applications, enabling an accurate, stable IT infrastructure.
