Oracle TopLink 11g, an advanced object-relational persistence framework based on the open source EclipseLink project, introduces seamless integration with Oracle Coherence, flexible Object-XML binding, and provides out-of-the-box compatibility with Oracle WebLogic Server and Java frameworks including Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) 11g.
Oracle will also now provide professional commercial support for EclipseLink.
EclipseLink is based on a previous version of Oracle TopLink, which Oracle contributed to the Eclipse Foundation in 2006.
Today’s announcement supports Oracle’s strategy of delivering complete, integrated and end-to-end product suites on an open, standards-based middleware and database architecture. Oracle’s approach helps customers to simplify computing environments, lower cost and risk, and provides greater choice and flexibility.
Oracle TopLink 11g enhances the industry standard Java Persistence API (JPA) with advanced object-relational features for flexibility, performance, clustering, and scalability required for enterprise application deployments.
Highlights of Oracle TopLink 11g include:
JPA-enabled Data Grid: Provides seamless integration with Oracle Coherence, allowing applications to leverage in-memory data grid capabilities through the standard JPA programming model, and developers to leverage extreme performance without having to learn a new programming model.
Flexible Object-XML binding: Supports efficient manipulation of XML through a Java domain model using JAXB and the ability to interact with unstructured data through Service Data Objects (SDO) -- reducing the need to integrate multiple point solutions.
Support on Oracle WebLogic Server for both application and container managed JPA applications, JAXB, and SDO, with continued support for Oracle Application Server as well as IBM WebSphere and Red Hat JBoss;
Out-of-the-box compatibility with Oracle ADF 11g and Spring Framework – allowing reduced training costs and providing rapid application development;
Leading integration with advanced features of Oracle Database 11g – including support for VPD, Proxy Authentication, XDB, Object-Relational, Spatial, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures/Function and advanced query extensions;
Continued support for a wide range of commercial and open source databases including IBM DB/2, Sybase, Microsoft SQLServer, MySQL, Java DB, and others.
Oracle Customer Services provides complete coverage of Oracle TopLink with the world's leading portfolio of IT lifecycle-based service and support offerings.
