Leading Drug Store Operator Uses Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to Gain Improved Sales and Performance Visibility
Katz Group Implements Oracle® Applications to Help Drive Value Across its Network of Stores
NRF 98th ANNUAL CONVENTION & EXPO, NEW YORK – January 12, 2009
Katz Group, one of North America’s largest drug store operators, has implemented Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to provide its finance, merchandising and pharmacy teams with improved insight into sales and performance across its Rexall family of pharmacies.
Katz Group’s integrated pharmacy network is comprised of corporately owned, franchise and independent pharmacies. Its corporately owned chains in Canada are Rexall Drug Stores and Rexall Pharma Plus.
In addition to its retail operations, the Katz Group owns and operates, Rexall Direct, Canada's only national mail order pharmacy as well as progressive pharmacy divisions such as Rexall Health Services, ProPharm Limited and Rexall Specialty Pharmacy.
The company implemented JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financial Management in order to more easily track sales across its network. The implementation is part of Katz Group’s strategy to centralize and integrate core financial, procurement and asset management operations across its enterprise using JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Financial Management applications replace various spreadsheets used by each line of business to update the general ledger with the high volume of daily sales information stemming from retail and mail order operations.
Katz Group expects to use JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to help identify opportunities to add value within each business and across the company as a whole, by providing faster, easier access to accurate sales information and better insight into key performance metrics.
“We have steadily improved our ability to drive value across all of our brands, by centralizing and integrating core financial operations using Oracle’s JD Edwards EntepriseOne suite of applications. We put the framework in place and have continued to add various modules to it so that our finance, merchandising and pharmacy leadership have easier, faster access to a single source for transaction and performance data across the enterprise,” said Faramarz Farahani, Director, Project Management Office, Katz Group Canada Ltd.
