Oracle Introduces Oracle Project Analytics to Help Organizations Better Manage Projects and Improve Performance and Profitability
New Oracle Business Intelligence Application Designed to Track Performance Throughout Project Life Cycles
COLLABORATE 2009, ORLANDO, Fla. – May 6, 2009
To help organizations gain greater insight into project performance, Oracle today introduced Oracle® Project Analytics, a new component of the Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Applications, which monitors key project performance metrics and enables users to control project costs and improve project performance and profitability.
Oracle Project Analytics is one of two applications newly introduced with the general availability of Oracle BI Applications Release 7.9.6, also announced today (read related press release).
A component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle BI Applications are comprehensive, pre-built solutions that enable customers to achieve fast time to value by reducing deployment time and help lower overall total cost of ownership.
Project Analytics Offers Relevant and Actionable Insight to Improve Performance
Oracle Project Analytics delivers role-based intelligence to Project Executives, Project and Program Managers, and Project Accountants, helping them to:
Track project/program performance and control project costs;
Take action to improve project portfolio performance; and,
Deliver comprehensive insight into project revenue, billing, and profitability.
To help organizations jump start their project analysis efforts, Oracle Project Analytics features several pre-packaged dashboards including:
Project Executive – provides an organizational view coupled with the visibility and control needed to monitor organizational performance and the health of projects across the board to improve profitability and operate more efficiently;
Project Management – provides a complete view of project performance from high-level summary of accumulated and trending information for single or group projects down to cost, revenue, and budget transaction details;
Public Sector – designed for public sector and other organizations not reliant on profitability and margin tracking. Fully integrated with the Oracle Financial Analytics module which provides public sector agencies with fact-based and timely insight into their operational budgets and funds management.
Oracle Project Analytics will help empower organizations to:
Make timely, more informed decisions across the Project organization;
Identify at-risk projects and initiate corrective measures;
Further maximize cash flow with increased insight into payable, commitments, and billings; and
Control budgets and costs before they impact project profitability.

“Project-based organizations are doubling their efforts to control budgets and costs, maximize cash flow, and improve project profitability,” said Paul Rodwick, vice president of product management, Oracle Business Intelligence. “Oracle Project Analytics enables organizations to measure and track key project performance metrics throughout a project lifecycle. The integration of Oracle Project Analytics with other Oracle BI Applications such as Oracle Financials Analytics and Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics helps to ensure that customers have a holistic view of all of the related information required to make timely, fact-based decisions.”
“Our customers and prospect customers are very excited for the latest release of Oracle’s BI Applications,” said Amy Mayer, President, BI Consulting Group. “Project Analytics is certainly drawing a lot of attention with our customers that manage projects as part of their business. They’re seeking greater insight into project costs compared to budgets, project revenues, billings and collections to help them improve project performance.”
“We have a number of customers who are interested in the new Project Analytics of Oracle BI Applications,” said Sid Goel, Partner and BI Architect with KPI Partners, Inc. “This new application will enable customers to have better control of project budgets, performance, profitability, and to identify projects that are at risk in order to take fast corrective action. Additionally, KPI has written a comprehensive white paper on Project Analytics that will complement the adoption of this new application.”
